The Embassy of the Republic of Angola in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, learned, with immense sadness and regret, of the physical passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CEO of the Access Bank Group in a tragic aviation accident in California in which they were also victims the wife and son.  

In his simplicity and humility, Dr. Herbert Wigwe was intelligently developing a responsible expansion of Access Bank to several African countries including Angola where last December he had been received by the President of the Republic of His Excellency João Lourenço.  

At this time of great pain and sadness, on behalf of myself, the Angolan community, the diplomats and employees of the Diplomatic Mission of Angola in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Benin and Niger, we extend our most sincere solidarity and support to the Board of Directors of the Access Bank Group  and his family.   

Let us beseech the Almighty Lord to comfort our hearts so that we can overcome this anguish over the physical passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son.  

May God receive him and keep him in His Holy abode.
