TAAG Angola Airlines today held in Luanda the official launch event for its new international route to Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, bringing together Angolan and Chinese institutional representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, corporate clients, and stakeholders from the aviation sector.
The occasion also marked the official opening of ticket sales for the new air link and confirmed the start date for commercial operations, scheduled for 23 June 2026.
The route will connect Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ), located on the outskirts of Luanda, to the city of Guangzhou, one of Asia’s leading economic, industrial, and logistics hubs.
The new service will be operated with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a state-of-the-art aircraft recently added to the Company’s fleet, offering passengers an enhanced travel experience, high standards of comfort, and greater operational efficiency.
In its initial phase, the route will operate with a weekly frequency, departing from Angola every Tuesday.
The launch of the Guangzhou route represents a strategic milestone in TAAG’s international expansion plan and reinforces the airline’s positioning as a key facilitator of connectivity between Africa and Asia, promoting the movement of people, business, and goods between the two markets.
China maintains strong bilateral relations with Angola, supported by a significant resident community, active corporate cooperation, and well- established economic exchanges across multiple strategic sectors. In this context, the new air link emerges as a relevant instrument for strengthening institutional, commercial, tourism, and cultural ties between the two countries.
From a commercial and operational standpoint, the Guangzhou route aligns with TAAG’s vision of consolidating a more competitive intercontinental network, while leveraging the potential of Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport as a regional and international connectivity platform capable of positioning Angola as a strategic hub on the African continent.
With this new operation, TAAG reaffirms its commitment to the development of Angolan civil aviation, the strengthening of ties between strategic geographies, and the promotion of Angola as a preferred gateway to Africa.
