African Central Bank chiefs in Abuja to chart way forward

African central bank governors have converged on Abuja for a crucial three-day meeting aimed at boosting trade.

The conference, hosted by Finance Minister Wale Edun, chair of the African Caucus, will see top economic minds propose solutions to propel the continent’s economic growth.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of a growing chorus for a fairer global financial architecture.

A key agenda is to prepare a unified African position for the upcoming International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank annual meetings in Washington DC in October.

Bank of South Sudan Governor Dr. James Alic Garang, a keynote speaker, will share insights on navigating the complex global financial landscape.

The meeting will also delve into the impact of climate change, geopolitical tensions, and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on monetary policy in Africa.

Participants will explore ways to mitigate these risks and ensure the stability of the continent’s economies.
